Miss Dana has been teaching for over 15 years and dancing practically her whole life. Hip hop is her passion. She had been on a traveling competition team from the ages of 13-18 and competed in many competitions all over the east coast. She has also taught some of the company classes which travel and were award winning teams, as well as teaching regular weekly classes of hip hop, jazz, pom/kick and preschool combo classes. She taught at various different competitive dance studios on long island and also did game day choreography for Molloy College Dance Team and Adelphi Univeristy Dance Team. Dana has danced professionally for the NBA in Atlanta, Georgia for the Atlanta Hawks Dancers, and also did performances and work with the NFL Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders. She still travels to Atlanta to do choreography for the Atlanta Hawks Dancers for their game day dance routines and their auditions each year. She is very creative and always looking for more opportunities to use her choreography for anything , whether its competitions, shows or just to have an upbeat class where you can let loose. Her classes are just all about having fun and sharing her love for dance, the essentials of the hip hop style of dance and the music that goes along with it.
Miss Jenna has been dancing since age two and plans to dance for the rest of her life. She is trained in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern and hip hop. Miss Jenna first began teaching at age 16 as a subsititute, and danced about 13 hours a week all throughout high school, as well as dancing for Oceanside High School's Dance Team for two basketball seasons. She graduated with a major in Dance at Nassau Community College after dancing on and being Captain for their award winning Dance Team. She has danced professionally on the dance team for the Long Island Lizards professional lacrosse team. Miss Jenna was also a part time dance and Zumba instructor at Molloy College, and attended Hunter College for her masters in dance education. Miss Jenna loves working with dancers who want to learn and put in hard work! Miss Jenna has been part of the "LEGACY team" even before it was officially Legacy, and we're LUCKY to have such an amazing teacher here with us for so long.
Aliyah Petrone is a Legacy Dance Center alumni who was a title winning member of the competition dance team, and has worked here at Legacy for several years now. She has become a member of the competition team staff in fall 2018. During this year, she has won many first overalls, along with choreography awards for her dances. She has taken college courses in kinesiology (the study of movement) and anatomy, as well as child development courses. She is so passionate about her job and loves being a role model to the younger girls.
When Miss Michelle saw how much fun her daughter Taylor was having taking classes at Jacto, she knew she had to get in on the act!! She loves being one of the preschool and tu tu cute teachers here at Legacy! As a mom, she understands how important it is to nurture our youngest dancers, and loves the fact that she is creating the building blocks for what she hopes to be a life-long love of dance! She is no stranger to the dance floor or working with children. She takes adult dance classes at Legacy, and took dance classes as an undergratuate student at the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology. Also, for 6 years, she was the Children's Choir director at St. Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa. She loves all her "kids" very much and is thrilled to be part of the Legacy family.
Miss Brooke began dancing at age 3. She studied all styles of dance at Oceanside Dance Center, where she began dancing competitively at age 5. She has earned many dance scholarships and worked with numerous professional teachers and choreographers such as Peter Sabasino from SYTYCD, Megan "Megz" Alfonso from SYTYCD, Travis Lake, and Theresa Stone. Brooke continued her dance career at Long Island University- Post where she served as captain for two years. She competed at the NDA national championship helping her team earn a spot in the top 5 nationally ranked D2 dance teams in jazz and hip-hop categories. Brooke has worked with Universal Dance Association as a dance instructor over the past three years. She has been a dance teacher for the past seven years which allows her to continue to grow in her dance career. Currently, her passion lies within hip-hop and jazz. She is so thankful for being given the opportunity to teach at Legacy Dance Center and is eager to help her students find their voice through dance!
Gabriela Soto was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and relocated to the states at age 14. Miss Gabby is an alumni from The Ailey School Certificate Program. Theatre credits include Brigadoon (New York City Center), and In The Heights (Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse at the Park). Film credits include Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Gabriela has also performed works by William Forsythe, Alvin Ailey, Lar Lubovitch, Matthew Rushing, Elisa Monte, Robert Battle, Francesca Harper, Amy Hall and Jae Man Joo. When off stage Miss Gabby enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge with the younger generation of dance.
Angelica Lopez started dancing at the age of three, and by the age of seven, she started training at Broadway Dance Center in their Children and Teens Program and became a part of their dance company (Arts in Motion). She has performed with the company in many popular venues, including The Macy’s Day Parade and Good Morning America. Angelica has been the recipient of many dance scholarships through The Pulse On Tour Dance Convention, including Protege, 2009-2015. She has also been awarded a fully-paid scholarship by StageDoor productions for their Broadway Dances workshop where a select few get to learn music and choreography from current Broadway actors. She has appeared on BET's 106 & Park on several occasions including once as a featured performer for Willow Smith. She was hired by Microsoft to take part in a massive Launch for the XBox Kinect game in Times Square dancing with Ne-yo.In 2011 Angelica played dancing Dora in the animated movie for Nickelodeon, called Dora and the Explorer girls, Starring Shakira and choreographed by Luis Salgado. She also danced in the half-time show at the Miami Dolphins game with Enrique Iglesias. She took part in Beyonce’s/Mrs. Obama’s Campaign called “Let’s Move,” and was selected to take part in the instructional portion of the video. She was a part of the commercial for Google Chrome featuring Lady GAGA, appeared in an episode of Are We There Yet? Television series and took part of a PSA campaign calling for World Peace. She was hired by Hasbro Toy Company for a commercial of one of their most popular toys, "Britney Spears' Twister Dance Rave." During September and October 2013 Angelica played "Ava" in Dead Man's Party, an annual show that takes place at Six Flags Great Adventure as part of Fright Fest. She also is the assistant choreographer for the successful children’s commercial team, Boss Kids, where her choreography has been part of award-winning pieces. She has a B.S in Business Management and Professional Communications from Molloy College.
Miss Lisa started dancing at the age of 5. She began her training at Dance Xplosion and continued to dance throughout High School where she was on the High School Kickline. This is when she found her love for teaching and has been teaching on and off for the last 14 years. Miss Lisa danced professionally on the Long Island Lizards Dance Team and was captain for two years. Miss Lisa graduated from LIU Post in 2013 with a major in Psychology. This is Miss Lisa's third year teaching at Legacy and she loves all her students and being apart of the Legacy Family.
Miss Kate has been dancing since the age of two and has studied ballet, modern, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, tap, hip hop and more. She is a Legacy Dance Center alumni and was a member of the competition team for most of her time at Legacy until she graduated. Kate has attended summer courses at the Joffrey Ballet School and graduated from the Long Island High School for the Arts where she took courses in Kinesiology and Dance History in addition to ballet, modern, and jazz. Kate is currently a Dance Major at Marymount Manhattan College.
Erin McDonagh is currently attending Marymount Manhattan College where she is studying dance. She began her training at Anita’s studio of Dance and Theater Arts and has continued at Broadway Dance Center, Steps, Peridance and the Long Island High School for then Arts. She has been able to train with many notable dancers including Anthony Morigerato, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards and Heather Cornell. Erin currently assists Mark Albrecht at Broadway Dance Center. While competing, Erin has won various awards and titles for her own choreography. She is currently teaching tap to our competition students and we are excited to have her on our team!
Miss Ally is a Legacy Dance Center competition team alumni. She has been dancing since she was 4 under the direction of Dana Novello. Miss Ally is currently a sophomore at Long Island University studying for her B.S. in Psychology. She is a member of the Division1 dance team at LIU. She has previously trained with the Radio City Rockettes and has been training every summer at the Joffrey Musical Theatre Intensive for the past 3 years. Miss Ally has been trained in ballet, tap, acro, hip hop, jazz, contemporary, lyrical and musical theater. Miss Ally loves sharing her artform with all of her students, and has been an assistant for the past 6 years! She can’t wait to see her kids shine on stage and see what the future holds for them!
