Miss Dana has been teaching for over 10 years and dancing practically her whole life. Hip hop is her passion. She has been on a traveling team from the ages of 13-19 and competed in many competitions all over the east coast. She has also taught some of the company classes which travel and were award winning teams, as well as teaching regular weekly classes of hip hop, jazz, pom/kick and preschool combo classes. She taught at various different competetive dance studios on long island and also did master choreography for Molloy College Dance Team and Adelphi Univeristy Dance Team. Dana has danced professionally for the NBA in Atlanta, Georgia for the Atlanta Hawks Dancers, and also did performances and work with the NFL Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders. She now travels to Atlanta to do choreography for the Atlanta Hawks Dancers for their game day dance routines. She is very creative and always looking for more opportunities to use her choreography for anything , whether its competitions, shows or just to have an upbeat class where you can let loose. Her classes are just all about having fun and sharing her love for dance, the essentials of the hip hop style of dance and the music that goes along with it.
Miss Jenna has been dancing since age two and plans to dance for the rest of her life. She is trained in tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, modern and hip hop. Miss Jenna first began teaching at age 16 as a subsititute, and danced about 13 hours a week all throughout high school, as well as dancing for Oceanside High School's Dance Team for two basketball seasons. She graduated with a major in Dance at Nassau Community College after dancing on and being Captain for their award winning Dance Team. She has danced professionally on the dance team for the Long Island Lizards professional lacrosse team. Miss Jenna is currently a part time dance and Zumba instructor at Molloy College, and is attending Hunter College for her masters in dance education. Miss Jenna loves working with dancers who want to learn and put in hard work! Miss Jenna has been part of the "LEGACY team" even before it was officially Legacy, and we're LUCKY to have such an amazing teacher here with us for so long.
Aliyah Petrone is a Legacy Dance Center alumni who was a title winning member of the competition dance team, and has worked here at Legacy for several years now. She has become a member of the competition team staff in fall 2018. During this year, she has won many first overalls, along with a choreography award for her dances. She has taken college courses in kinesiology (the study of movement) and anatomy, as well as child development courses. She is so passionate about her job and loves being a role model to the younger girls.
When Miss Michelle saw how much fun her daughter Taylor was having taking classes at Jacto, she knew she had to get in on the act!! She loves being one of the preschool and tu tu cute teachers here at Legacy! As a mom, she understands how important it is to nurture our youngest dancers, and loves the fact that she is creating the building blocks for what she hopes to be a life-long love of dance! She is no stranger to the dance floor or working with children. She takes adult dance classes at Legacy, and took dance classes as an undergratuate student at the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University, where she earned a B.A. in Psychology. Also, for 6 years, she was the Children's Choir director at St. Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa. She loves all her "kids" very much and is thrilled to be part of the Legacy family.
Miss Brooke began dancing at age 3. She practiced all styles of dance at Oceanside Dance Center, where she began dancing competitively at age 5. She has earned many dance scholarships and worked with numerous professional teachers and choreographers such as Peter Sabasino from SYTYCD, Megan "Megz" Alfonso from SYTYCD, Travis Lake, and Theresa Stone. Brooke continued her dance career at Long Island University- Post where she served as captain for two years. She competed at the NDA national championship helping her team earn a spot in the top 5 nationally ranked D2 dance teams in jazz and hip-hop categories. Brooke has worked with Universal Dance Association as a dance instructor over the past three years. She has been a dance teacher for the past seven years which allows her to continue to grow in her dance career. Currently, her passion lies within hip-hop and jazz. She is so thankful for being given the opportunity to teach at Legacy Dance Center and is eager to help her students find their voice through dance!
Krystina Wendelken is from Long Island, NY. From a very young age, she started training with her mother, Jacqueline Jaramillo at the Seiskaya Ballet. She then was offered a full scholarship to attend the Orlando Ballet School year round program, under the director of Peter Stark, she trained there for 7 years. By the age of 17 she moved to Carlisle, PA to start training at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet under the direction of Marcia Dale Weary, Leslie Hench, and Laszlo Berdo. She then trained and performed one year at Eglevsky Ballet under the direction of Laszlo Berdo. Krystina was offered a trainee position with The Washington Ballet, under the direction of Septime Webre, she danced and performed there for 2 years. Krystina has received prizes and awards from numerous ballet competitions, she also was honored to perform for the Make A Wish Foundation in Washington DC.
Angelica Lopez started dancing at the age of three, and by the age of seven, she started training at Broadway Dance Center in their Children and Teens Program and became a part of their dance company (Arts in Motion). She has performed with the company in many popular venues, including The Macy’s Day Parade and Good Morning America. Angelica has been the recipient of many dance scholarships through The Pulse On Tour Dance Convention, including Protege, 2009-2015. She has also been awarded a fully-paid scholarship by StageDoor productions for their Broadway Dances workshop where a select few get to learn music and choreography from current Broadway actors. She has appeared on BET's 106 & Park on several occasions including once as a featured performer for Willow Smith. She was hired by Microsoft to take part in a massive Launch for the XBox Kinect game in Times Square dancing with Ne-yo.In 2011 Angelica played dancing Dora in the animated movie for Nickelodeon, called Dora and the Explorer girls, Starring Shakira and choreographed by Luis Salgado. She also danced in the half-time show at the Miami Dolphins game with Enrique Iglesias. She took part in Beyonce’s/Mrs. Obama’s Campaign called “Let’s Move,” and was selected to take part in the instructional portion of the video. She was a part of the commercial for Google Chrome featuring Lady GAGA, appeared in an episode of Are We There Yet? Television series and took part of a PSA campaign calling for World Peace. She was hired by Hasbro Toy Company for a commercial of one of their most popular toys, "Britney Spears' Twister Dance Rave." During September and October 2013 Angelica played "Ava" in Dead Man's Party, an annual show that takes place at Six Flags Great Adventure as part of Fright Fest. She also is the assistant choreographer for the successful children’s commercial team, Boss Kids, where her choreography has been part of award-winning pieces. She has a B.S in Business Management and Professional Communications from Molloy College.
Jared Stern is a New York native. He grew up as a competition dancer where he studied every style of dance intensely and competed nationwide for 12 years. Consequently, his commitment to dance sparked an interest in continuing his dance education at the Long Island High School for the Arts (LIHSA) where he was able to gain experience in both the concert and commercial parts of the dance industry. His time at LIHSA solidified his decision to turn dance into a career and pursue the B.F.A. dance program at Adelphi University on a full talent scholarship where just some of what he studies includes the Cecchetti and Vaganova method of Ballet, Modern with a primary focus on the Graham technique, and Dance Composition. Jared is thrilled to join the faculty of Legacy Dance Center to share his wide variety of experience and love of dance.
Miss Lisa started dancing at the age of 5. She began her training at Dance Xplosion and continued to dance throughout High School where she was on the High School Kickline. This is when she found her love for teaching and has been teaching on and off for the last 14 years. Miss Lisa danced professionally on the Long Island Lizards Dance Team and was captain for two years. Miss Lisa graduated from LIU Post in 2013 with a major in Psychology. This is Miss Lisa's first year teaching at Legacy and she loves all her students and being apart of the Legacy Family.
Miss Jillian has been dancing since she was 3 years old! She has been competing since age 11 and has never lost her passion for dance. Miss Jillian danced at LA Dance Studio where she studied ballet, tap, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz and lyrical. She was also on her high school’s kickline team, danced on multiple dance teams since beginning college, and has had the opportunity to choreograph and lead the teams as well. She is currently on the dance team at Adelphi University, and is studying to earn her Bachelors Degree in Social Work. Miss Jillian loves being apart of the Legacy family and really feels like she is right where she belongs. She loves creating a fun and exciting learning environment for all of her students, where they also can find their passions for dance.
Miss Jaida is a competition dancer on our Senior Competition team at Legacy. She has been dancing since she was 4 and competing since she was 7. Miss Jaida takes about 10-13 classes a week, 2 private lessons and plans to continue dancing after high school. She currently performs 2 solos at competition as well as 10 group routines each competition and dances nearly 12 hours a week. She loves teaching toddler tumbling at Legacy and loves sharing her passion of dance with our little Legacy dancers.
Jaida is proficient in ballet, tap, acro, hip hop, jazz, contemporary and lyrical. Jaida is always pushing the envelope and going the extra mile to prepare for auditions, and workshops when their busy schedule allows. She is an award winning dancers and their love for the artform shines every time they take a class or perform. She has a bright future in this industry and love spreading their love for dance with the younger students of Legacy.
